The natural border with Portugal (Guadiana river) is 3 km from Isla Canela. The border can be crossed either by ferry in Ayamonte or through the bridge to Algarve.

You can get Isla Canela either: 

by air, flying to Faro or Sevilla, then, you may:

rent a car and drive to Isla Canela (50 km from Faro) or take a train or a bus
